The cast of reinforcements for the PBA Governors’ Cup is officially complete. This after the Titan Ultra Giant Risers announced they are bringing in veteran internationalist Tirrell Brown as their import for the season-ending tournament.
The Giant Risers made the announcement on Tuesday and were the last team to enlist a reinforcement for the Governors’ Cup, which tips off next week, July 10. Brown will be tasked to help Titan Ultra finish Season 50 off with a bang after going 2-10 in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Tirrell Brown Brings Experience and Inside Presence
Early indications suggest that Tirrell Brown is the polar opposite of Titan Ultra’s reinforcement last conference in Michael Gilmore. Unlike Gilmore, Brown appears to be more of an interior operator, opting to do much of his damage in and around the paint. Gilmore, on the other hand, operated almost exclusively from the perimeter, taking jumpers mostly, and going for the drive when it presented itself. That being the case, Brown has also shown a soft enough touch, particularly from downtown to at least keep defenses honest.
Brown, 32, played for the University of Central Arkansas before transferring to Ouachita Baptist University. At his peak playing for the Tigers, Brown normed 17.9 points and 7.4 rebounds on 55% shooting overall.
He then spent most of his playing years as a professional in Latin America, where he’s had stops in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Uruguay, among others.
Most recently, Tirrell Brown suited up for the Caimanes del Llano in the Colombian Liga Basket and put up respectable numbers of 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on 68.5% shooting from two-point territory.
Titan Ultra to Open the Governors’ Cup
Incidentally, the Giant Risers will be part of the double-header that will kick off hostilities in the PBA Governors’ Cup as they take on the Terrafirma Dyip and import Justin Strings.
Titan Ultra will be playing in Group A this conference and will play a double round-robin against the TNT Tropang 5G, Converge FiberXers, San Miguel Beermen, Terrafirma, and Macau Giant Pandas.
