Filipino middleweight prospect Weljon Mindoro has been building toward a moment like this. On August 29 (August 30, Philippine time) in Los Angeles, that moment arrives.
The 26-year-old undefeated Filipino middleweight returns to the ring to face Mexican veteran Carlos Ocampo in a non-title bout that carries title implications—streamed live on ProBox TV. It is, by any reasonable measure, the most significant test of Mindoro’s professional career. And how he handles it could chart the course of everything that comes next.
Weljon Mindoro enters the bout with a 17-0-1 record and 16 knockouts. The only blemish on that card is a draw against former WBO super welterweight title challenger Takeshi Inoue of Japan in May 2023.
