Eldrew Yulo is now an Asian Games medalist—joining his decorated older brother, Carlos.
The younger Yulo delivered another medal for the Philippines on Friday, claiming bronze in the Men’s Horizontal Bar on the final day of competition at the Nagoya General Gymnasium. Eldrew finished with 13.666 points—the same as Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi—but secured the bronze thanks to a superior execution score of 8.566 to 7.766.
China’s Hao Tian took gold with 14.700, while Japan’s Shinnosuke Oka earned silver with 14.033.
Eldrew Yulo, Carlos Yulo Show Out
The younger Yulo’s bronze came right after Carlos’s twin gold medals in the Men’s Floor Exercise and Men’s Vault, the former won on Thursday and the latter copped on Friday in the same venue. Together, the Yulo brothers collected three medals in the 20th Asian Games. It could have been four, as Carlos narrowly missed out on another bronze in the Men’s Parallel Bars.
This is not the first time the brothers have shared the podium since Eldrew stepped up to the seniors division. At the 2026 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Zunyi, China, Carlos won gold in Floor Exercise while Eldrew claimed bronze. Earlier, in their seniors debut at the 2026 Antalya World Cup, Eldrew captured gold in Floor Exercise, though Carlos missed out on a medal.
This Won’t Be the Last—Hopefully
The Yulo brothers’ three‑medal haul in Nagoya should be seen as a sign of what lies ahead. Carlos, at 26, is in his athletic prime and remains a strong contender in Floor Exercise and Vault. Eldrew, only 18, has the benefit of learning from one of the world’s best gymnasts—and has years ahead to build his own legacy.
For perspective, Carlos did not win a single medal in his Asian Games debut at 18 back in 2018. Eight years later, he has become one of the sport’s elite and continues to raise the bar. If Eldrew’s trajectory mirrors even part of his brother’s rise, a Yulo takeover in men’s gymnastics may not be far‑fetched at all.
