The PVL Reinforced Conference continued on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan with another exciting triple bill: the Chery Tiggo Crossovers taking on the Galeries Tower Highrisers, the Petro Gazz Angels facing the Akari Chargers, and the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles going up against the Creamline Cool Smashers.

Chery Tiggo Blanks Galeries Tower to Get in Win Column

Staring at the prospect of sinking deeper in the standings, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers mustered a brilliant effort on Thursday, blanking the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-9, 25-16, 25-23, for their first win of the conference.

Import Yuni Batista got the better of her matchup with Galeries’ Jelene Cvijovic, whom she outscored, 20-6. Ara Galang and Pauline Gaston provided much-needed firepower, scoring 11 and 10, respectively, for the now 1-3 Crossovers.

Dim Pacres and Ivy Perez scored 7 apiece for Galeries, which sorely lacked offense against an inspired Chery Tiggo defense.

Petro Gazz Survives Akari in Thrilling Five-Setter

The Petro Gazz Angels kept their hopes of netting the top spot of Pool B with a hard-earned 29-27, 25-22, 19-25, 17-25, 15-11 victory over the erstwhile unbeaten Akari Chargers.

Import Lindsay Vander Weide fired a team-high 22 markers to lead the Angels, who looked headed for a short night after claiming the first two sets. But Akari fought back valiantly, led by reinforcement Annie Mitchem, who exploded for a match-high 30 markers. However, Petro Gazz showed poise under pressure to ultimately pull out the win.

Brooke Van Sickle added 19 points for Petro Gazz as she continued her strong showing this conference. MJ Phillips and Myla Pablo chipped in 13 and 12, respectively. Fifi Sharma backed up Mitchem for Akari, firing 18 points, while Eli Soyud and Ced Domingo had 14 and 13, respectively.

Zus Coffee Stuns Creamline for Pool B Top Spot

The Zus Coffee Thunderbelles are proving they’re for real, and their latest win—a 27-29, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 victory over the Creamline Cool Smashers—is strong proof of it.

Import Anna DeBeer led Zus Coffee once more, exploding for 37 huge points as she torched Creamline’s defense time and again. AC Miner added 13 and formed an imposing frontline with Thea Gagate and Riza Nogales to stifle the Cool Smashers’ attacks.

Courtney Schwan’s 18 markers led the Cool Smashers, who also drew big games from Alyssa Valdez (13 points), Pangs Panaga (11), and Tots Carlos (11).
