The Philippine Women’s National Futsal Team, also known as the Filipina5, will begin their final training camp in Spain as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in Pasig City, which kicks off on November 21.

Training to Beat the World’s Best

Last September 16, it was announced the Filipina5 will be in Group A which will also feature world ranked No. 6 Argentina, No. 14 Poland and No.31 Morocco.

The Filipina5 will have a two-week training camp in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, from October 29 to November 11, 2025.

The Spain camp is a key part of the Philippine Football Federation’s (PFF) long-term vision to strengthen its women’s futsal program and elevate Filipino athletes to international standards.

During the two-week stint, the Filipina5 will engage in high-intensity training, participate in technical and tactical sessions, and test their readiness through four competitive friendly matches against elite-level opposition.

Their fixtures include AE Les Corts (November 2), FS Sabadell (November 5), Esportiu Rubi (November 6), and a headline match against Spain’s national women’s futsal team (November 8).

These matches are designed to sharpen the team’s skill, speed, and strategic play in preparation for the high-stakes tournament on home turf.

Holding camp in Spain which is one of the global centers of futsal excellence also provides the Filipina5 with an opportunity to experience a professional environment and compete against players accustomed to high-tempo play.

The program will also feature daily strength and conditioning drills, tactical workshops, and video analysis to further refine the team’s overall performance and understanding of the sport.

According to the PFF, this training exposure is expected to enhance the squad’s cohesion and mindset as they approach the World Cup with greater confidence.

PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez Highlights Importance of the Training Camp and World Cup Hosting

“This camp is the perfect stage for our team to grow stronger—technically, tactically, and mentally,” Gutierrez said.

“By training and playing against some of the best clubs and national teams in Europe, our players will gain the confidence and experience they need to perform fearlessly when the World Cup begins on home soil.”

Gutierrez added that hosting the World Cup represents more than just competition as it is also a symbol of national pride and inspiration.

“Hosting the World Cup is about pride, passion, and creating heroes that young Filipinos can look up to,” he shared.

“Every goal, every save, every moment on the court is a message that our nation belongs on the world futsal map.”

Seeing the Future of the Futsal Program After 2025

The Spain training camp also aligns with the PFF’s broader futsal development roadmap, which aims to establish a sustainable national team structure and promote futsal as a sport accessible to Filipinos of all ages.

By investing in long-term player growth and exposure to international competition, the PFF hopes to ensure that the Filipina5’s impact continues beyond the 2025 tournament.

“Our Filipina5 are working tirelessly to represent the flag with honor,” Gutierrez said.

“We are calling on every Filipino fan to rally behind them. Let’s fill the arenas in Pasig, let’s make them feel that this is our home, our pride, our moment.”

He further emphasized how valuable the lessons from the Spain camp will be for the program’s future.

“What the Filipina5 learn in Spain, they will bring home and share with the next generation of players. This is how we grow the game.”

The Philippines will play against Poland in the Futsal World Cup on November 21, Morocco on November 24 and Argentina on November 27.
