The PVL Reinforced Conference resumed on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena with a pair of games that already took place to start the tournament—Zus Coffee Thunderbelles vs. Akari Chargers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans vs. Capital1 Solar Spikers—but were nullified due to the ITC controversy.

Zus Coffee Shocks Akari with Reverse Sweep

Staring their first defeat in the PVL Reinforced Conference, the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles dug deep, turned it up, and pulled out a stunning 23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-12, 15-7 reverse sweep of the Akari Chargers.

Prolific reinforcement Anna DeBeer continued her monstrous showing this conference with a 33-point explosion to go along with her 12 excellent receptions in a two-way tour de force. The superb American got plenty of help, too, with Jovelyn Gonzaga and Riza Nogales adding 11 each, Chinnie Arroyo chipping in 10, and AC Miner firing 7 more.

Import Annie Mitchem’s 27 points led the Chargers, who also lost in that nullified opener back in October in five sets. Eli Soyud added 15.

With the win, Zus Coffee preserved its unbeaten slate and moved to 5-0 to top Pool B. Akari, meanwhile, dropped to 3-2 but secured the third spot over the Petro Gazz Angels by virtue of a superior quotient.

Capital1 Trounces Choco Mucho in Straight Sets

The Capital1 Solar Spikers got back at opening-day tormentor Choco Mucho Flying Titans with aplomb, pulling off a 25-23, 26-24, 25-19 sweep that underscored the former’s rise in the PVL Reinforced Conference.

Rookie Bella Belen was sensational once again, delivering 11 markers for the inspired Solar Spikers. Chel Austero added 8, while Leila Cruz and Pia Abbu had 6 points each.

Marlee Smith top-scored for Choco Mucho with 12 markers, while Maddie Madayag and Isa Molde contributed 11 and 10, respectively.

The win over Choco Mucho is Capital1’s third this conference in five outings, enough for the team to finish No. 3 in Pool A. The Flying Titans fell to 2-3 and will join the Nxled Chameleons and Cignal Super Spikers in facing the top three teams in Pool B.
