Here are the top performers on January 27 and the stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Luka Doncic LAL PG 46 PTS | 7 REB | 12 AST | 69.4 FPS (vs. CHI)
Doncic continues to do it all for the Lakers, leading the team in points, rebounds, and assists while accounting for half of the team’s total three-pointers. The performance also marked his eighth 40-point game of the season and his fourth straight with a double-double.
BREAKOUT:
Amari Williams BOS PF 9 PTS | 7 REB | 2 BLK | 25.9 FPS (vs. POR)
The rookie has worked his way into the rotation lately and made his presence felt on the defensive end. With Queta struggling, he’s likely to keep seeing meaningful minutes in the coming games.
SLEEPER:
Jarace Walker IND PF 12 PTS | 7 REB | 5 STL | 39.9 FPS (vs. ATL)
Even though Walker was not as productive offensively today, he more than made up for it on defense with a season-high in steals. He’s also on a strong three-game run, averaging 19 points, 3 steals and close to 5 rebounds.
ELITE ASSET:
Kevin Durant HOU PF 33 PTS | 8 REB | 1 BLK | 46.6 FPS (vs. MEM)
KD continues to be one of the league’s most consistent scorers, recording at least 30 points in three straight games and not falling below 18 points all month.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Donte DiVincenzo MIN SG 15 PTS | 8 AST | 3 BLK | 39.8 FPS (vs. GSW)
Despite not scoring a lot this month, DiVincenzo remained highly productive as a shooter, averaging 3.5 threes while also making a consistent impact across the board, averaging 5.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.5 steals.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
CJ McCollum ATL PG 23 PTS | 8 REB | 7 AST | 50.1 FPS (vs. IND)
The star guard turned in his best performance as a Hawk, recording his 18th 20-point game of the season while flirting with a triple-double. After recent offensive struggles, he appears to have found his rhythm, shooting 60% in each of his last two games.
STREAMER:
Cam Spencer MEM SG 5 PTS | 5 REB | 13 AST | 33.5 FPS (vs. HOU)
The second-year guard continues to step up for the shorthanded Grizzlies, finishing with his second straight 10+ assists game and his fifth in his last seven. With Morant now expected to miss more time, he should continue to see a significant role in the rotation.
FLOPPER:
De’Andre Ayton LAL C 6 PTS | 2 REB | 8.4 FPS (vs. CHI)
It was another lackluster performance for the big man, who finished with his worst rebounding output of the month and scored fewer than 10 points for the fourth consecutive game.
