The TNT Tropang 5G are going all-out as they look to defend their PBA Commissioner’s Cup title. And they are doing so by stacking the deck with extraordinary height and versatility by signing up former NBA player Bol Bol. Hoops fans ought to be familiar with Bol Bol, as he’s an NBA veteran known for his rare blend of size and shooting.
Bol Bol, the Lengthy Sharpshooter
While his college stint at Oregon was brief due to injury, Bol Bol was nonetheless drafted in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft.
Bol Bol bounced around quite a bit, playing for the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, and Phoenix Suns, carving out a role as a stretch big. His best season was undoubtedly 2022–23 with the Magic, as he tallied 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks across 70 games while shooting 54.6% from the field. More recently, in the 2024–25 season, this time playing for Phoenix, the 7-foot-3 center posted 6.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in limited minutes while hitting 34.4% from beyond the arc.
That perimeter touch for a man his size sets Bol Bol apart. Over six NBA seasons, he’s maintained a 33.2% three-point clip on solid volume, complementing his career 54.5% field goal efficiency. At 26, Bol brings efficiency and upside to the PBA and TNT, having tallied 1,243 points and 153 blocks in 202 appearances in the world’s premier league.
Inside-and-Out Domination for TNT?
Joining TNT, Bol Bol will be looked upon to anchor the interior—especially on defense. He’ll be adding size to a frontline that already has Kelly Williams, Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Henry Galinato Jr., and Poy Erram. He’ll also be bringing uncanny length and timing that could make him a true disruptor, blocking shots inside and playing the passing lanes everywhere on the court.
Offensively, Bol Bol could potentially be a scoring weapon unlike any other, blending guard skills and shooting with size never before seen in the PBA. At 7-foot-3, Bol could dominate inside on jump hooks and turnaround jumpers alone while also attacking the rim. He could also shoot from distance and be unbothered by defenses due to his sheer size and length.
Notably, though, Bol Bol has some injury history—a stress fracture in college, foot and knee problems in the NBA—that could be a cause for concern. But if healthy, he could elevate TNT in ways no other import can, making the Tropa the early favorite in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
