Coming off a 5th–6th place finish in Season 14, Team Liquid Philippines clearly lacked a reliable anchor to steady them in tense, high-stakes moments. But everything changed when Kiel “Oheb” Soriano stepped in. Oheb provided exactly what they needed. He didn’t just bring elite mechanical skill but further refined their championship blueprint. After helping Blacklist secure three MPL Philippines championships and an M-Series world title, he proved his pedigree again by becoming the driving force of TLPH’s resurgence.
The results spoke for themselves. TLPH claimed first-place finishes in Seasons 15 and 16, then cemented their dominance with a championship run at the 2025 MSC and a gold medal finish at the SEA Games. From a mid-table squad to a legitimate powerhouse, Oheb became the catalyst behind the transformation.
But after all that, Team Liquid Philippines still decided to turn the page. In a move that surprised many, TLPH announced yesterday that Oheb would be moved to inactive status to take a well-deserved break. However, Oheb clarified his position just recently, releasing an official statement via his legal counsel stating that he has instead resigned from the team.
Team Liquid Philippines Entering New Era?
With the veteran’s departure now a legal matter, the spotlight shifts to the Cavalry’s new era. Taking over Oheb’s spot is none other than Sultan “Aeronnshikii” Muhammad, the former gold laner of the team’s Indonesian counterpart. This move was made official earlier, making him the second Indonesian import to join MPL Philippines, following ONIC’s Savero.
While Oheb’s shoes are notoriously difficult to fill, Aeronnshikii arrives with a championship pedigree of his own. The young star brings the explosive mechanics and clinical marksmanship he displayed during their dominant run in 2024. Aeron spearheaded TLID in Season 14, where they first captured the team’s first domestic title. His ability to perform under the brightest lights was further proven during the M6 World Championship, where he led his squad all the way to the Grand Finals. While the Cavalry may have moved on from their veteran stabilizer, they have done so in favor of a rising global superstar.
Team Liquid Philippines is also ushering in a new era behind the scenes. SN4P joins as assistant coach, while Ong Wei “Aeon” Sheng takes the reins as head coach. Aeon previously coached in MPL Singapore from 2018 to 2023, bringing years of experience to Team Liquid.
Despite the changes, the Cavalry will look to maintain their dominance as they set out to defend their crown in Season 17.
