Here are the players who made the biggest impact on April 14 and the stats to prove it.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Bol Manute Bol TNT C 48 PTS | 11 REB | 7 BLK | 82.2 FPS
The former NBA big man just keeps on dominating. Offensively, he was a force inside the arc, shooting 14-for-21 and also doing plenty of damage at the line, where he went 17-for-21 to finish with the second-highest scoring performance of any player in the tournament. Defensively, he was on another level, recording his sixth consecutive 10-rebound outing along with a conference-best mark in blocks.
Cady Lalanne NLX C 28 PTS | 18 REB | 3 BLK | 58.1 FPS
Lalanne continues to be one of the most impressive imports in the league, scoring at least 20 points in every game so far while averaging 15.0 rebounds per outing. The only downsides are his shooting from three, where he is 4-for-20, and his free-throw shooting, where he is converting at 71.4% this tournament.
Robert Upshaw III BWB C 36 PTS | 7 REB | 1 BLK | 46.4 FPS
Upshaw has been an excellent interior operator in the conference, shooting 65% in his first three games. He continued that trend today, going 9-for-13 and also showcased another side to his game, knocking down 3-of-6 from four to set a new conference scoring high. He is now averaging 30.0 points per game, which ranks third in the league.
Tony Mitchell Jr. MBK C 32 PTS | 11 REB | 2 AST | 46.2 FPS
This was Mitchell’s best game of the conference. Offensively, he finished with a game-high in points on superb shooting from all ranges—most notably from inside the arc, where he went 11-for-14. He was just as impressive on the boards, recording his sixth game with double-digit rebounds.
Robert Lee Bolick NLX PG 17 PTS | 7 REB | 11 AST | 39.9 FPS
Bolick continues to set the standard in playmaking, posting back-to-back 10-assist outings and averaging nearly nine assists per game in this conference. While he wasn’t at the same offensive level today as he was in their previous three games, he still produced an efficient scoring performance.
Damian Chongqui MBK PG 19 PTS | 7 AST | 2 STL | 38.3 FPS
Limited to a conference-low in scoring against Meralco, Chongqui bounced back today with his sixth 19-point performance of the tournament. He’s just as steady as a playmaker, averaging 7.86 assists per game which is the second best mark in the league.
Dalph Adem Panopio BWB PG 17 PTS | 9 REB | 2 STL | 37.8 FPS
In the last conference, the rookie quickly emerged as a key contributor for the team, averaging 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game. He hasn’t been up to that standard through the first four games of this tournament, but he came through today, leading all local players in scoring.
Ramon Cao MBK C 16 PTS | 8 REB | 4 AST | 30.6 FPS
The big man struggled early in the conference, averaging just 6.75 points in his first four games. But he appears to have found his rhythm, putting up 18.0 points and 8.7 rebounds in his last three. For the Knights to finally secure a breakthrough win, they’ll need Cao to keep producing at this level moving forward.
Christian David BWB SF 12 PTS | 11 REB | 1 AST | 24.7 FPS
It has been a disappointing conference for the forward so far, scoring seven points or fewer in each of his last four games while making little overall impact. However, he’s beginning to regain some rhythm lately, matching his conference-best in scoring today while also finishing with consecutive 10-rebound outings.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Calvin John Oftana TNT SG 6 PTS | 4 REB | 1 TO | 9.8 FPS
Finding consistency has been a notable problem for the star forward in this conference. This marked the third time in six games that Oftana turned in a subpar performance and also his least productive scoring outing in that stretch. In the previous conference, he also had several down games but largely delivered, averaging 18.4 points on 47.2% shooting from two and 6.0 rebounds across 22 games.
