Here are the players who made the biggest impact on May 1 and the stats to prove it.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Bol Manute Bol TNT C 30 PTS | 20 REB | 3 BLK | 60.5 FPS
Throughout the tournament, the former NBA player has dominated the scoreboard. Bol has now reached the 30-point mark nine times in ten games. He was equally impressive on the boards, recording double-digit rebounds in every game and also setting a new conference-best today. Furthermore, he has been leading the league in blocks, well ahead of the rest of the league, averaging 4.1 per game.
Ricci Paolo Rivero PHX SF 31 PTS | 11 REB | 3 STL | 57.2 FPS
Offensively, Rivero continues to make a name for himself with these types of performances. He was on fire on two-pointers, converting 13-of-19 to lead all players in scoring while also recording his fifth 20-point game of the conference. He was just as impressive on the boards, setting a new conference high in rebounds.
Jonathan Lee Williams III PHX C 22 PTS | 15 REB | 6 AST | 49.0 FPS
The veteran import was back in the league after two years, rejoining his former team. In 2024, he starred with averages of 24.5 points, 16.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 17 games, winning the Best Import award and helping Phoenix reach the semifinals. Though he has had some early offensive struggles, he was still close to his usual level and should further improve in the coming games.
Justin Brownlee GIN SF 23 PTS | 5 REB | 6 AST | 48.0 FPS
The Kings’ resident import has continued to produce at a high level in the tournament. While he didn’t have the best night offensively, he made up for it with strong contributions across the board. Through ten games in the conference, he has averaged 30.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 stocks.
Rhon Jay Abarrientos GIN PG 24 PTS | 2 AST | 1 STL | 29.2 FPS
On the whole, this performance was far from what RJ had been producing in the conference. Still, he’s been very reliable on the scoring end, going 6-for-8 from two and 3-for-6 from deep, raising his tournament average to 21.8 points per game which is the second-best in the team.
Calvin John Oftana TNT SG 22 PTS | 6 REB | 1 AST | 26.7 FPS
The franchise star began the conference on a high note, averaging 16.2 points across five games. He slowed down briefly afterward, but he was back at that level again lately, setting a new conference high today on excellent shooting from all ranges. Including the previous conference, this marked his 11th 20-point performance.
Roger Ray Pogoy TNT SF 17 PTS | 7 REB | 24.4 FPS
Pogoy has really struggled in the early part of the conference, but he’s starting to turn things around lately, scoring 29 points over his last two games. He also made his presence felt on the boards, grabbing four offensive rebounds today for a conference-high total.
Christian Tyler Tio PHX PG 14 PTS | 2 AST | 1 STL | 21.2 FPS
The Phoenix guard has been producing on the scoring end lately, pushing his double-digit streak to four games. Still, he was even more impressive today, scoring the team’s final four points to help secure the upset.
Christopher Banchero MER PG 10 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 20.8 FPS
It was a strong overall game for the Meralco guard. He contributed well in the secondary categories while also going a perfect 2-for-2 on four-pointers to finish with consecutive double-digit scoring performances for the first time in the tournament.
Jayson Castro TNT PG 11 PTS | 2 REB | 3 AST | 16.9 FPS
This was his third double-digit scoring game of the conference, and he did it with excellent shooting from two. Even though he just returned from a major injury, the veteran has still made a strong impact with averages of 6.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the tournament.
Norman Aaron Black MER SG 8 PTS | 3 REB | 4 AST | 16.6 FPS
Things hadn’t gone smoothly for the Meralco guard lately, as he struggled to find any rhythm, shooting 0-of-12 from the field and going scoreless in his last two games. But he snapped out of it today, shooting well from the floor and also contributing in other areas.
Kier John Quinto MER SF 11 PTS | 1 AST | 1 STL | 15.5 FPS
Despite having mostly limited impact, the forward continues to be an important part of the rotation. But he stepped up today, shooting efficiently from the field and reaching double figures for the third time this tournament.
Glenn Khobuntin TNT PF 11 PTS | 3 REB | 1 AST | 15.1 FPS
For most of the conference, Khobuntin has had minimal impact on the scoreboard. But he elevated his play today, hitting 3-of-5 from three-point range for his best scoring output of the tournament.
Rey Benedict Nambatac TNT PG 3 REB | 4 AST | 2 STL | 13.6 FPS
Offensively, it has gotten worse for the point guard, as he finished scoreless in back-to-back games. Still, he had a decent overall performance. He recorded a team- and conference-high in assists while staying productive on defense, averaging 1.4 steals per game.
Brandon Matthew Bates MER C 4 PTS | 4 REB | 1 STL | 10.8 FPS
Even though Bates was impressive in the opening game, he hasn’t seen much floor time since. Recently, however, he was back in the rotation and made his presence felt on the boards, recording nine rebounds over two games.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Jeth Troy Rosario GIN PF 4 PTS | 7 REB | 3 TO | 10.9 FPS
Since finishing with his first double-double game against Converge, the big man had been less productive. Yet recently, Rosario has turned it back up, putting together back-to-back games of that caliber. While he fell short of that standard today, he was still impactful, finishing as the team’s best rebounder.
