Here are the players who made the biggest impact and the stats to prove it.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Justin Brownlee GIN SF 40 PTS | 8 REB | 5 AST | 61.1 FPS
The three-time Best Import was just on another level. Offensively, he was completely locked in, converting 7-for-12 on two-pointers, 8-for-9 at the line and knocking down six three-pointers to lead both teams in scoring. Brownlee has been consistently impressive throughout the conference, and that production should only continue into the playoffs.
Rhon Jay Abarrientos GIN PG 23 PTS | 6 REB | 11 AST | 53.7 FPS
Coming off a subpar overall performance against the Bolts, Abarrientos completely turned it around today, contributing excellent numbers in almost every category. He not only made his presence felt on defense, recording three stocks, but also set a new conference high in playmaking. Offensively, however, he has been phenomenal throughout the tournament.
Earl Scottie Thompson GIN SF 17 PTS | 16 REB | 3 STL | 52.2 FPS
The former MVP came up huge today, making a strong impact on either end of the floor. Offensively, he was on fire from long range, hitting 5-of-9 and finishing as the game’s third-leading scorer. But he was still at his most impressive on defense, where he recorded a game-high four stocks while also posting his best rebounding performance of the tournament.
Robert Upshaw III BWB C 31 PTS | 12 REB | 4 TO | 42.9 FPS
The big man was back in the lineup today after being sidelined against Macau and he picked up where he left off, shooting efficiently from inside the arc and at the line, to lead all players in scoring and finished with his fifth consecutive 30-point performance.
Christopher Clark Banchero MER PG 14 PTS | 8 AST | 1 STL | 30.4 FPS
This was easily his best game of the tournament. Even though he shot poorly, finishing 6-for-15, he still recorded his second-best scoring outing of the conference, along with his best playmaking performance.
James Paul Una BWB PF 9 PTS | 8 REB | 2 BLK | 26.6. FPS
Defensively, the rookie big man has provided a steady impact over the last four games. But he stepped it up further today, leading the team in blocks while also setting a new conference high in rebounds.
Louis Raphael Cu GIN SF 15 PTS | 5 REB | 3 AST | 25.5 FPS
Despite limited playing time in the tournament, the wing stayed ready and delivered today, knocking down five threes for a conference-best showing. This performance should help him build momentum moving forward.
Sedrick Barefield BWB SG 16 PTS | 3 REB | 5 AST | 25.1 FPS
Overall, this was a disappointing performance for Barefield. After dominating in the opening quarters, he went completely quiet, managing just two points the rest of the way and finishing with his least productive scoring output over their last five games.
John Troy Mallilin BWB PF 9 PTS | 9 REB | 2 AST | 22.8 FPS
Offensively, he was far from effective, going 2-for-10 on two-pointers. Still, he made his presence felt today, finishing second in the team in rebounding while coming close to a double-double.
Javee Mocon MER SF 5 PTS | 4 REB | 2 STL | 20.3 FPS
During a four-game stretch last month, Mocon was effective offensively, averaging 11.5 points on 63% shooting from two. While he hasn’t been up to that standard lately, he still made a positive impact on defense with this performance.
Christopher Elijah Newsome MER SG 10 PTS | 3 REB | 4 AST | 18.6 FPS
The guard has been playing really well over his past four games, and he carried that today, putting up another well-rounded output. Through ten games, Newsome is averaging 14.4 points on 55.8% shooting from two, along with 2.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Anton Rafael Asistio ROS SG 13 PTS | 3 AST | 17.5 FPS
From two-point range, Asistio had a difficult time, finishing 0-for-3, but he made up for it by shooting 4-for-8 from deep. He may not reach this level every time but he’s undeniably capable of producing such performances.
Paul Christian Zamar BWB SG 11 PTS | 2 AST | 1 STL | 17.2 FPS
Offensively, the veteran guard has continued to deliver. Through solid shooting from the two-point area and the free-throw line, he has reached the double-digit scoring mark in four of his last five games.
Jhonard Clarito ROS PF 5 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 16.5 FPS
Other than a few off games, the forward has been mostly solid throughout the tournament. Lately, he has also made a larger impact on defense, averaging three stocks. He couldn’t replicate that success on the offensive end, however, finishing scoreless today after totaling 29 points over his previous two games.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Stephen Jeffrey Holt GIN SG 4 PTS | 3 REB | 2 TO | 7.1 FPS
For most of the tournament, the former first overall pick has delivered steady scoring along with a balanced output. However, he has fallen short of that standard lately, putting together consecutive subpar overall performances on lackluster shooting.
