Here are the players who made the biggest impact on July 11 and the stats to prove it:
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Kentrell Debarus Barkley BWB C 29 PTS | 15 REB | 10 AST
The seasoned import delivered an outstanding performance in his PBA debut, nearly recording a 30-point triple-double. Barkley fueled the Bossings’ explosive opening period, pouring in 18 points while knocking down all four of his three-point attempts. He clearly has the pedigree of an elite scorer and should have little trouble scoring at least 20 points moving forward.
Sedrick Barefield BWB SG 24 PTS | 3 AST | 3 STL
Despite struggling from three, hitting just 3-of-11, Barefield was able to make up for it on two-pointers, converting 6-of-11 to finish as the leading local scorer. In the previous conference, he scored at least 20 points seven times across 12 games.
Regile Kent Ilagan BWB PG 22 PTS | 5 REB | 2 STL
Ilagan was sidelined in the last two conferences with a hamstring injury, but he was back in the lineup today and made an immediate impact, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from two and 3-7 from three-point range.
Dalph Adem Panopio BWB PG 19 PTS | 7 REB | 4 STL |
The third overall pick made his mark on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he converted 4-of-5 from the line and also added a four-pointer for his best scoring game since the last conference. Defensively, he led the team in steals while also finishing second in rebounding.
James Paul Una BWB C 12 PTS | 7 REB | 2 BLK
The center was instrumental in the win, providing a steady presence in the paint. He was highly efficient on offense, shooting 6-of-9 on two-pointers while also recording three offensive rebounds.
Abu Jahal Tratter BWB C 11 PTS | 4 REB | 1 BLK
This was a quality performance from the veteran big man. He was efficient on offense, converting 5-of-6 from the field while also contributing on the defensive end. In the Commissioner’s Cup, he averaged 6.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.
Aaron Fuller ROS C 38 PTS | 15 REB | 1 BLK
The returning import was his usual dominant self, finishing with a game-high in points and rebounds. He did most of his damage from the two-point area, converting 14-of-20 attempts. Fuller should continue to be a reliable double-double threat going forward.
Adrian Clarence Nocum ROS SG 17 PTS | 6 AST | 2 BLK |
Though he posted a team-high four turnovers, Nocum compensated with a complete performance. Offensively, he also continues to get the job done, shooting 7-for-12 from two and finishing second in the team in scoring.
Gian Mamuyac ROS SF 12 PTS | 6 REB | 6 AST
Mamuyac delivered a well-rounded performance. Last conference, he averaged 13.1 points on 55.6% shooting from two with 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists across 18 games.
Luis Villegas ROS C 9 PTS | 6 REB | 1 STL
This was an impressive start to the conference for the center, as he knocked down three three-pointers while finishing as one of the team’s top rebounders. In the Commissioner’s Cup, he made a total of 11 three-pointers while averaging 3.0 rebounds per game.
BJ Johnson PHX SF 34 PTS | 10 REB |
The Phoenix import led the charge on offense, scoring 26 points in the middle quarters to help put his team in front and finished as the game’s leading scorer.
Jason Perkins PHX PF 23 PTS
Perkins was excellent on the offensive end, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and adding six more in the final period to lead all local players in scoring. In the previous conference, he had a strong offensive run, averaging 15.5 points on 56.8% shooting from two and 40% shooting from three across 11 games.
Zavier Lucero MAG PF 20 PTS
Lucero was off to a solid scoring start this conference, finishing with a team-high in points. In the previous conference, he averaged 14.4 points per game and reached the 20-point mark just once in 14 games.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Jhonard Clarito ROS PF 8 PTS | 5 REB | 2 TO
Despite being one of the team’s leading scorers last conference with a 10.4-point average, Clarito has struggled to maintain a consistent scoring rhythm. That was the case again today, as he failed to find his rhythm and shot just 2-for-9 from the field.
