The Philadelphia 76ers finally see the return of Joel Embiid who has missed the last seven games. With the 2023 MVP back on the floor, the Sixers toppled the Chicago Bulls on the road on Monday, 108-100.
Chicago had a pretty solid, balanced, and efficient scoring in the first half, but Embiid got his rhythm in the second quarter, giving Philly a slight edge. The Bulls still tried to make a push late in the fourth, however, the Sixers carried on with Embiid’s momentum which eventually got them their 7th win of the season.
Joel Embiid stuffed the stat sheet in his return from injury, finishing with 31 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. The Cameroonian superstar also became the 17th player to record 100 games with at least 30 points and 12 boards.
Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey logged his first career triple-double during the contest after dropping 25 points, 14 assists, and 11 rebounds. Paul George was also playing but had a rough night, only garnering 12 points. Coming off the bench, Kelly Oubre Jr. made a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
As a team, the Sixers completely obliterated the Bulls on the boards, 56-35.
Zach LaVine went up for 30 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds in the loss. Helping him are Nikola Vucevic and Coby White who had 13 markers apiece.
Windy City is currently sitting at 10-15, tied with the Brooklyn Nets and the Detroit Pistons right in the middle of the pack in the East.
Sixers also improve to 7-15 but are a long way from being even in the playoff picture. The Sixers will return home on December 14 to face the Indiana Pacers.
