The rain simply won’t be enough to delay the success of Alex Eala in her debut game at the WTA 125K Oeiras Ladies Open in Portugal as she beats Anouk Koevermans of the Netherlands.
Through the Rain
Playing in her first clay-court tournament after roughly a year, Alex Eala’s first match in the Round of 32 against World Ranked No. 182 Koevermans in WTA Oeiras Open was postponed midway through the game as multiple delays because of the rain in the evening of April 14 2025 (PH date and time).
The game was rescheduled the next evening, Tuesday on April 15. The former graduate of Rafael Nadal Academy did face a deficit in the second set as she was trailing 2-4 but another “fairytale comeback” was yet again displayed by the young tennis legend from the Philippines
The Quezon City born athlete won by four straight points and ended the game with a final score of 6-4 in the second set and 6-3 in the first set.
Riding the Tide
With this opening game victory, the 19-year-old superstar will now advance to the Round of 16. As she waits for her next opponent, the World Ranked No. 72 tennis star is still on her elite form after a historical campaign at the Miami Open.
Whoever her next opponent may be, one thing is certain: the entire Philippines will be watching and supporting their fellow kababayan in what could be another breakthrough campaign in this tournament
