2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League BY THE NUMBERS: Petro Gazz, Creamline, PLDT Qualify for the Quarterfinals

The Petro Gazz Angels, the Creamline Cool Smashers, and the PLDT High Speed Hitters have qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League.

Zhetysu Volleyball Club of Kazakhstan swept Pool A, while the Cool Smashers ended the preliminary round in second place with a 1-1 win-loss record. Jordan’s Al Naser was eliminated after failing to win a single game.

Chinese Taipei’s Kaohsiung Taipower also swept Pool B, followed by the Petro Gazz Angels with a 1-1 win-loss record. Hong Kong’s Hip Hing was eliminated after failing to win a single match.

China’s Beijing BAIC Motor topped Pool C with a sweep, while Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An also qualified for the quarterfinals with a 1-1 win-loss. Iran’s Saipa Tehran was eliminated after failing to win a single game.

Lastly, Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima QminC finished with a 2-0 win-loss record, followed by the High Speed Hitters with 1-1. Australia’s Queensland Pirates were eliminated after finishing with a 0-2 record.

Here’s everything you missed on the third game day of the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League.

It took Nakhon Ratchasima QminC of Thailand five sets to defeat the PLDT High Speed Hitters of the Philippines 26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25, 15-9.

Anyse Smith led the Nakhon Ratchasima-based squad with 20 points in 17 attacks and three blocks, while Eva Chantava contributed 17 points in 14 attacks and three aces. Team captain Onuma Sittirak added 14 points in 13 attacks.

For the Manila-based squad, Savi Davison scored 28 points in 24 attacks, two blocks, and two aces, while Wilma Salas contributed 22 points in 20 attacks and two blocks. Kim Kianna Dy added 12 points in 10 attacks, a block, and an ace.

After the game, Chantava gave credit to their opponents and applauded her team for a job well done. She said, “I think the fact that we didn’t give up and we played as a team, it was very important. PLDT is amazing, they played amazing defense, they had a very good attack, so we had to adapt in this style of game. I’m so happy that we played as a team today. Everybody helped, and that was the most important for the victory.

In the quarterfinals, Nakhon Ratchasima QminC will face the Creamline Cool Smashers on Friday, April 25, at 7 pm. Meanwhile, the PLDT High Speed Hitters will take on Zhetsyu on Thursday, April 24, at 4 pm.

The Petro Gazz Angels recorded 47 attack points in their straight-set 25-8, 25-12, 25-12 victory against Hip Hing. In comparison, the Hong Kong-based club only had 10 attack points.

Import Gia Day led the Petro Gazz Angels with 18 points, while Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips contributed nine points apiece.

For Hip Hing, no player scored in double digits as Kwan Sze Man was limited to four points in three attacks and an ace.

After the win, Day described it as a “great game.” She said, “I think this was a great game to find our rhythm as a team, to have fun, and enjoy each other’s play. We really just enjoyed every point, and that was the difference between today and yesterday. We could have given ourselves so much pressure, but we decided to really have fun.

In the quarterfinals, the Petro Gazz Angels will face China’s Beijing BAIC Motors on Thursday, April 24, at 7 pm, while Hip Hing were eliminated and placed 12th in the final standings.

Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An manned the net as they recorded nine block points in their 22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-15 victory against Saipa Tehran. In comparison, the Iran-based squad only had three block points.

Vi Thi Nhu Quynh once again led the team with 24 points in 19 attacks, two blocks, and three aces, while Natalia Lijewska contributed 19 points in 16 attacks and three blocks. Team captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy added 16 points in 14 attacks, a block, and an ace.

For Saipa Tehran, Mahsa Kadkhoda scored 16 points in 13 attacks, two aces, and one block, while Mahsa Saberi contributed 15 points in 14 attacks and an ace.

After the game, VTV Binh Dien Long An head coach Thai Quang Lai talked about the adjustments he made after they dropped the opening set. He said through a translator, “After the first set, I switched T4 to opposite and Quynh to outside hitter, and also brought in Lu Thi Phuong, and that changed our fortunes during the game.

In the quarterfinals, VTV Binh Dien Long An will face Chinese Taipei’s Kaohsiung Taipower on Friday, April 25, at 4 pm. Meanwhile, Saipa Tehran was eliminated and finished ninth in the final standings.

Kazakhstan’s Zhetsyu Volleyball Club only needed an hour and four minutes to defeat Jordan’s Al Naser, 25-10, 25-15, 25-11.

Zhetsyu captain Karina Denisova led the team with 15 points, 11 attacks, three aces, and a block, while Yuliya Dymar contributed 13 points in 11 attacks, a block, and an ace.

For Al Naser, Ilisandra Klein was the lone bright spot with 10 points in eight attacks and two aces, while Isabela da Silveira contributed nine points.

After the game, Zhetsyu’s head coach, Marko Grsic, praised how his team played in the match. He said, “I’m very glad because we win today and we finished first in the group. I expected [the result] because when I saw the Jordanian team, I know we’re a better team than them. But I’m satisfied with how my team approached [the game], and I’m pretty sure that we are going to be ready for the quarterfinals.”

In the quarterfinals, Zhetsyu will face the PLDT High Speed Hitters of the Philippines on Thursday, April 24, at 4 pm. Meanwhile, Al Naser was eliminated and finished in the tenth spot in the final standings.
