Alex Eala has carried the Philippine flag onto some of the biggest tennis courts in the world. This December, Filipino fans finally have the chance to welcome her home and watch her play live.
On December 8, Eala will headline Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate at the Philippine Arena—a celebration of tennis, Filipino pride, entertainment, and the remarkable journey of a young Filipina who has inspired a new generation of sports fans.
Eala will face Indonesia’s Janice Tjen in a headline match bringing together two of Southeast Asia’s most exciting tennis talents.
After a standout 2026 season that includes a historic first WTA 500 title in Washington and a breakthrough Wimbledon campaign, Eala returns to play before the home crowd that has followed her matches from thousands of kilometers away.
For Filipino fans accustomed to watching Alex compete overseas—often through screens and at unusual hours—this will be a rare opportunity to see her play right here at home.
“Every time I play abroad, I carry the Philippines with me. To come home and play in front of our fans will be incredibly special,” said Eala.
“I want this to be a day where we celebrate our love for tennis, our culture, and the young players who will take the sport forward. And if all of us come together, maybe we can make a little history too.”
A Homecoming to Remember
The Philippine Arena gives the event the opportunity to bring together more than 52,000 fans—potentially surpassing the current attendance record for a tennis match.
The current record stands at 51,954 spectators, set during the 2020 exhibition match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in Cape Town.
For organizers, however, the bigger opportunity is to bring Filipinos together to celebrate an athlete who has proudly represented the country on the international stage.
“We want to create the biggest tennis celebration the Philippines has ever seen,” said Michel Lamunière, Chairman and CEO of Tatler Group.
“We chose the Philippine Arena because we want as many Filipinos as possible to experience Alex’s homecoming together. And if more than 52,000 of us come together, the Philippines could make tennis history. But the record is not the reason for this event. Alex is.”
The Philippine Arena will also come alive with rising Filipino tennis talent, live entertainment, fan experiences, and a special celebrity tennis match featuring some of the country’s best‑known personalities. Stay tuned—the celebrity line‑up will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Importantly, the celebration has been designed to be accessible to as many Filipinos as possible. Tickets start from ₱600, giving families, students, young tennis players, and first‑time fans the opportunity to experience Alex Eala’s homecoming live.
The event also hopes to inspire young Filipinos by giving them the opportunity to experience world‑class tennis at home—and to see through Alex what is possible for a Filipino athlete on the international stage.
“Tatler Philippines has celebrated exceptional Filipino talent and achievement for more than two decades,” said Irene Francisco, Managing Director of Tatler Philippines.
“Alex has given Filipinos so many reasons to be proud. Bringing her home gives us the opportunity to celebrate her achievements with the people who have supported her journey, while inspiring young Filipinos who may one day follow in her footsteps.”
With the event taking place during the Christmas season, Alex Eala Live also offers Filipinos coming home from overseas an opportunity to be part of a special sporting homecoming.
