Alex Eala is set to compete in even more events at the year’s final Grand Slam tournament. This after she was announced as the mixed doubles partner of Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime for the upcoming 2026 US Open.
Aside from officially earning a spot in the women’s singles main draw of the US Open, the pride of the Philippines is also scheduled to participate in the US Open Fan Week mixed doubles exhibition event, Stars of the Open, where she will team up with João Fonseca.
Now, with the news that the 21-year-old will also compete in mixed doubles, there is no doubt her schedule for the prestigious hard-court tournament will be jam-packed.
Can Alex Eala Win the Matches That Truly Matter?
It is certainly a treat for Alex Eala’s loyal fans to see her compete in multiple events at the US Open from August 13 to September 13. A larger audience also means increased ticket sales and greater exposure for the tournament organizers.
However, with three different events to prepare for—women’s singles, mixed doubles, and the Stars of the Open mixed doubles exhibition—the question remains: can Eala win the matches that truly matter for her career as a tennis player?
To be frank, the only event that the Rafa Nadal Academy graduate must and should primarily focus on is her singles campaign. That way, she can continue earning valuable ranking points so that by the end of the year, her world ranking could surpass her current career-high of No. 28.
Then again, many people are expecting the Quezon City native to put on a show in every match she plays.
