Alex Eala is set to participate in the 2026 WTA 500 Singapore Open from September 21 to 27, following her run at the US Open, scheduled from August 23 to September 13.
An Upgraded WTA Singapore Open
Announced by the Singapore Tennis Open via Facebook, the world No. 20 is set to compete in the upgraded WTA tournament. Last year, Eala played in the inaugural WTA 250 event.
In 2025, the tournament was held on a different date, with the Filipina competing in January. Eala qualified but only made it to the second round. She first defeated Sara Saito, 6-1, 6-7(1), 7-5, before being eliminated by Simona Waltert, 6-3, 6-2.
Conflict With the 2026 Asian Games?
It has yet to be confirmed whether Alex Eala will represent the Philippines in tennis at the 2026 Asian Games, as the tournament dates overlap with those of the Singapore Open.
The Singapore Open will run from September 21 to 27, while the 20th Asian Games in Japan are scheduled for September 27 to October 3.
With that in mind, it might be a possibility that the Rafa Nadal Academy graduate will miss the quadrennial games.
