2026 PVL Draft: Alyssa Solomon Officially Withdraws, Takes Overseas Gamble

Alyssa Solomon has taken herself out of the 2026 PVL Draft, opting instead to pursue opportunities overseas while committing to a full-time stint with Alas Pilipinas.

The development was announced Sunday by Hustle & Groove, Solomon’s agency, one day before the deadline for draft withdrawals.

The move removes the most high-profile prospect from this year’s draft class and leaves the June 3 selection process without its widely projected No. 1 pick.

Solomon Attains Flexibility, Faces Risk

By withdrawing from the draft, the former NU Lady Bulldog gains the flexibility to negotiate with overseas clubs without being tied to a PVL franchise.

Had she stayed in the draft and been selected, her professional rights would have belonged to a PVL team, limiting her options should an overseas opportunity materialize later.

Instead, the 6-foot-1 opposite hitter will focus on securing an international contract while serving with the Philippine women’s national team.

The decision, however, comes with significant risk.

Should overseas opportunities fail to materialize, Solomon will not have a PVL team waiting for her after the national team’s commitments conclude later this year.

Résumé and Achievements

Solomon was among the last prospects to formally enter the draft pool and was considered by many as the consensus top prospect in the class.

Her résumé included multiple UAAP championships with National University, collegiate-level individual awards, and a successful overseas stint with Japan SV.League club Osaka Marvelous, where she helped the team finish runner-up during the 2025-26 season.

Her withdrawal also creates uncertainty at the top of the draft board.

The Galeries Tower Highrisers, which won the Draft Lottery and owns the No. 1 overall pick, had been widely linked to Solomon as a potential franchise cornerstone.

With Solomon no longer available, the Highrisers and the rest of the league will now have to reassess their draft strategies ahead of Tuesday’s proceedings at Novotel Manila Araneta City.

Focus on the National Team

For now, Solomon’s attention shifts to the national team.

She is expected to join Alas Pilipinas in Candon City as preparations continue for the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup, scheduled from June 6 to 14.

While her next club destination remains uncertain, Solomon has made one thing clear: her immediate future lies with Alas Pilipinas and her pursuit of a career overseas.
