The Capital1 Solar Spikers continued their offseason rebuild by signing former Galeries Tower Highrisers captain Julia Coronel, adding another experienced piece to a roster already headlined by Bella Belen, Vanie Gandler, and Erika Santos.
Coronel officially parted ways with the Highrisers two days before joining the Solar Spikers, opening the door for her to link up with several familiar faces in Capital1.
The 5‑foot‑9 setter was the third overall pick in the inaugural 2024 PVL Draft and spent the past year as Galeries Tower’s team captain. She also carries championship pedigree from her time with De La Salle University and three years with the Alas Pilipinas program.
Her move to Capital1 reunites Coronel with Belen and Gandler, teammates from national team windows, and places her once again under Jorge Souza de Brito, her former Alas Pilipinas head coach.
Strengthening the Setting Corps
Julia Coronel adds depth to Capital1’s setting rotation alongside Jasmine Nabor and Jaja Maraguinot, giving the Solar Spikers multiple options as they continue to reshape their lineup.
The signing follows Capital1’s major offseason acquisitions of former Cignal Super Spikers stars Gandler and Santos, who joined to complement Belen—the top overall pick in the 2024 PVL Draft.
The Solar Spikers will unveil their revamped roster when they open the landmark PVL season against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Saturday, October 10, at the newly opened SM Seaside Arena in Cebu.
