The Converge FiberXers have now won three consecutive games in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup, with their latest triumph a dominant 152–119 thumping of the Titan Ultra Giant Risers. This winning run, for Cameron Clark, is a product of Converge playing team basketball.
In three games with the FiberXers, Clark has averaged 36.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.6 steals, and 1.7 blocks. Those gaudy numbers might be a product of Clark meshing well with his team—something he himself acknowledged after Converge’s win over Titan Ultra.
“Converge likes to run and gun. I feel like that’s one of my strong suits,” he told Rebanse. “We got a great point guard with Juan [Gómez de Liaño]. So anytime I can get out and run you know it’s great. Guys like Alec [Stockton] who’s good at transition and just tryna accommodate them and you know any way I can help.”
Converge won the fast-break battle against Titan, 22–18, as well as the assists department, 34–26. These numbers bear out Clark’s assessment and highlight the FiberXers’ uptempo style.
Converge Defense: Cameron Clark Understands It Now
Moreover, the extended break, according to Cameron Clark, has allowed him to get to know his teammates better and gain a deeper understanding of the FiberXers’ defensive schemes.
“I feel like we tryna come together as a team. We still have to build our camaraderie,” said Clark. “This month and a half kinda help you know we going over to play our defensive schemes and things in nature, learning from everybody so I feel like as long as we’re playing defense, we’re headed in the right direction.”
With three straight wins, Converge certainly looks headed in the right direction with two games remaining—against the Macau Giant Pandas on October 16 and versus the TNT Tropang 5G on October 18—in the elimination round.
