A new nest is buzzing in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Hornets are moving to a new era, trading eight-year veteran wing Miles Bridges, along with a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick, to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for wingers Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale, as well as a 2033 first-round pick.

Bridges played an integral role in Charlotte’s 2025–26 NBA campaign, where they reached the Play-In for the first time in four years, posting averages of 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists en route to a 44-38 record before eventually falling to the Orlando Magic in the battle for the East’s eighth seed.

The move marks Charlotte’s second major trade in the past week, as they recently dealt franchise playmaker LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for big man Naz Reid.

Hornets Continue to Add Shooters

With Allen and O’Neale now repping the blue-and-white, Charlotte’s motive becomes clearer: bring in more shooters.

Known for his defensive tenacity, Allen has also developed into one of the league’s deadliest shooters, boasting a 40% clip from long range in his 8th NBA season, along with a career-high 16.5 points per game.

Meanwhile, O’Neale has a lethal stroke of his own. The 6’5 forward shot 40.8% from three-point range and averaged 9.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists across 78 games this past season.

With Miles Bridges out of the lineup, this opens the opportunity for Reid to be placed in the starting unit. The 6-foot-9 shooter averaged 13.6 points on an efficient 36.2% from deep in his final season with the Wolves.

Miles Bridges Gets Fresh Start in Phoenix

As his time with the Hornets comes to an end, Miles Bridges now enters The Valley in a better position for his first playoff appearance.

Following Phoenix’s embarrassing sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Devin Booker may have just found his new running mate to share the offensive load. With Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks poised to bounce back, and with superstars such as Jaylen Brown and Ja Morant in heated trade talks, the Suns appear determined to do everything they can to fortify their 2027 campaign.
