The New York Knicks now lie one win away from the NBA Finals after cruising past the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 121-108 victory in Game 3 on Sunday.
Franchise point guard Jalen Brunson ushered New York to its 10th straight win in the playoffs, notching 30 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal en route to the victory.
“Our mindset hasn’t changed, we’re trying to get better every single day, we’re trying to learn even from wins. A lot of mental errors that we need to clean up, but we’re always just looking for ways to try and get better,” Brunson said postgame.
Knicks Continue Historic Stretch
Now just one win away from completing their second straight sweep this postseason, the Knicks’ door to their first Finals appearance since 1999 has never been more open.
New York started the game hot, seizing a 37-27 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Despite the Cavs trimming their lead by halftime, the Knicks never looked back, extending their cushion to double figures late in the game, 110-93, to seal the victory.
Six Knicks scored in double figures, including the entire starting unit, as Mikal Bridges chipped in 22 points, while OG Anunoby added 21.
Cavs on the Brink of Elimination
After blowing a 22-point lead in the late stages of Game 1, the Cavs seemed to have lost all momentum, as they now face an 0-3 deficit—a hole that no team in history has ever climbed out of.
Six turnovers to open the second half extinguished all their momentum, as Cleveland finished the game without having a lead at any point.
Evan Mobley paced the Cavs in the loss with 24 points, while Donovan Mitchell and James Harden combined for 42 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists.
The Knicks will look to deal the final blow, while the Cavs will look to extend the series in Game 4 on Tuesday.
