The La Salle Lady Spikers will keep their championship core intact for another season after “Batch 122” confirmed it will return for one final campaign in the UAAP Season 89 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

Speaking during a courtesy call to La Salle president Bro. Bernie Oca at Henry Sy Sr. Hall, team captain and newly minted Finals MVP Shevana Laput announced that she, Angel Canino, Amie Provido, and Lyka De Leon—who collectively make up Batch 122—will suit up once more for the Lady Spikers.

“As for we wish to continue this legacy, we want to stay for one more year,” Laput said during the courtesy call attended by campus journalists.

Batch 122 Makes La Salle Early Title Favorites—Again

Batch 122’s decision keeps La Salle’s title defense hopes fully alive after the Lady Spikers completed a dominant 16-0 championship run in Season 88, capped by consecutive straight-set wins over the NU Lady Bulldogs in the Finals.

It also means Batch 122 will have a chance to chase a third UAAP title together after previously winning the Season 85 championship during their rookie year.

Their return also gives new meaning to the Lady Spikers’ “Archers’ Stance” tradition following the Season 88 title clincher at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, where none of the seniors stepped into the center during the postgame ritual—a subtle sign that they were staying for another season despite initially remaining non-committal after the Finals.

Shevana Laput and Angel Canino Return as La Salle Pillars

Laput, who entered La Salle without prior competitive volleyball experience, capped Season 88 by winning Finals MVP honors after averaging 15.5 points in the championship series, including a 20-point performance in Game 2.

Canino secured her third Best Outside Spiker award, while Provido captured her second straight Best Middle Blocker citation. Laput also earned her second consecutive Best Opposite Spiker plum, while De Leon previously won Best Libero honors in Season 87.
