The PBA Commissioner’s Cup is in the semifinal stage of the playoffs, and it is certainly going to be a fun one as two of the league’s most iconic franchises face off in a thrilling seven-game series. Those teams are the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the forever-popular Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
In the aftermath of Game 1 played on Wednesday, May 20, we are here to share our Series Lineup Advice for the remainder of this high-stakes showdown.
Since it is the postseason, the rules of engagement change slightly. We will consider adding players with Out tags because, in the playoffs, most stars are highly likely to play through injury to help their team advance.

Our Tactical Roster Build
It goes without saying that we need to roster the imports, so that means we are locking in Jaylen Johnson (19.5 Credits) at center and Justin Brownlee (19.0 Credits) at small forward. Those selections cost us nearly 40 percent of our total credit balance, but it is fine since their production in this conference has been off the charts.
To balance out the budget, we are relying on a strong Rain or Shine core for our starting unit:
- Point Guard: Andrei Caracut (9.0 Credits) is our choice next, since we are convinced that he will perform much better for the remainder of the series.
- Shooting Guard: His backcourt mate and ROS rising star Adrian Nocum (13.0 Credits) takes the two spot.
- Power Forward: Rounding out our starting five will be Jhonard Clarito (11.5 Credits), who played a pivotal role in Rain or Shine’s Game 1 victory.
After all of that, we have 28 credits remaining for the FLEX positions. We will spend these resources on ROS cornerstone Gian Mamuyac (12.0 Credits), and the reliable Ginebra duo of Ralph Cu (7.5 Credits) and Jeremiah Gray (7.5 Credits).
Our Captain Picks:
Jaylen Johnson and Justin Brownlee were the top scorers in terms of fantasy points in their initial encounter, and there is no reason to believe that they cannot do it again for the remainder of the series. We are keeping Jaylen Johnson as our Captain (2x multiplier) and Justin Brownlee as our Vice Captain (1.5x multiplier) to secure a massive statistical floor.
Our Series Prediction
Game 1 was an intriguing affair as the momentum kept swinging between the two franchises until Gian Mamuyac’s clutch-time heroics secured the Elasto Painters’ 115-111 victory, giving them a 1-0 series lead. With all of that being said, momentum is on Rain or Shine’s side, and we are picking them to enter the finals after six grueling games.
Good luck with your semifinal picks! Let’s see if this import-heavy build can help you climb to the top of the leaderboards.
