PBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Advice: TNT vs. Meralco Semifinals Strategy

Coinciding with the ongoing NBA Conference Finals is the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals, which features four storied teams. In this edition of our Series Lineup Advice, we are putting the spotlight on the TNT Tropang 5G going up against the Meralco Bolts.

Daily Fantasy is a player-versus-player fantasy basketball game where the fantasy points you earn come solely from the real-life performance of the players you added to your lineup.

Since it is the postseason and the stakes are higher than ever, we will absolutely consider adding players with Out tags. Most players are highly likely to play through injury in these crucial playoff matchups. However, because status shifts can happen right up until the game begins, make sure to double-check your rosters before tip-off.

Fantasy Lineup

The lineup recommendations are for informational and entertainment purposes only. Outcomes in fantasy sports depend on real-time factors like player health and coaching decisions. Please play responsibly.

Our Tactical Roster Build

For obvious reasons, both teams’ imports need to be included in our lineup recommendation, as they are going to star in featured roles throughout the series. That means we are locking in TNT import Bol Bol (24.0 Credits) at center, and Meralco’s Marvin Jones (17.0 Credits) as our first guy via the FLEX spot.

Those two combine for about 40 percent of our credit balance, so now we need to balance the rest of our positions with our goal of achieving the best roster possible:

  • Point Guard: Jason Brickman (11.0 Credits) has to be the play since he is a seasoned vet who has been effective throughout his storied career.
  • Shooting Guard: Calvin Oftana (13.0 Credits) is a no-brainer pick at this point.
  • Small Forward: He will be joined by his hot-shooting teammate RR Pogoy (8.5 Credits) at the three.
  • Power Forward: To close out our starting five, we are going with the economical yet effective option in Glenn Khobuntin (6.5 Credits).

With 19.5 credits remaining to complete our team, we recommend filling our final spots by locking in Meralco’s versatile wing Chris Newsome (11.0 Credits) and the TNT and Gilas legend Jayson Castro (8.5 Credits).

Our Captain Picks: Bol Bol slots in as our Captain (2x multiplier) and Marvin Jones takes the Vice Captain (1.5x multiplier) honor to maximize our fantasy point potential.

Our Series Prediction

Game 1 of this series has come and gone, with TNT unsurprisingly drawing first blood. However, Marvin Jones and Meralco did not make it an easy outing for the Tropang 5G, giving them an absolute run for their money. While there is a good chance the Bolts can upset the Tropang 5G given their sometimes inconsistent outings, TNT should eventually outlast them within six games.

Good luck with your semifinal picks! Let’s see if this import-driven strategy can carry your squad to the top of the leaderboards.
