Here are the players who made the biggest impact on April 19 and the stats to prove it.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Bennie Francois Boatwright SMB C 41 PTS | 11 REB | 1 STL | 55.2 FPS
Boatwright announced his return to the league in emphatic fashion, finishing with the best overall performance of the day. He was explosive on offense, particularly from the four-point line, where he knocked down 3-of-5 while also going 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. He also finished as the team’s best rebounder.
Cady Lalanne NLX C 35 PTS | 12 REB | 1 BLK | 47.4 FPS
Offensively, Lalanne was on another level, shooting 9-for-12 from two-point range and an even more impressive 5-for-8 from deep to set a new scoring high. The big man has been one of the most consistent scorers in the league this conference, but he has leveled up his game even further, averaging 30.8 points in his last five games.
Clinton Daniel Chapman MAG PF 22 PTS | 14 REB | 2 BLK | 46.3 FPS
Chapman has further proved himself as one of the best offensive players in the league, now averaging 28.2 points on 51.8 shooting from two across five games.
Zavier Lucero MAG PF 17 PTS | 14 REB | 1 BLK | 41.8 FPS
Lucero did most of his damage at the line, going 8-for-11. While that kind of production hasn’t always been there for the forward, he has remained a steady scorer throughout the tournament, reaching double figures in every game so far. He’s more impressive on the boards today, however, matching the game-high in rebounds.
Robert Lee Bolick NLX PG 9 PTS | 10 REB | 12 AST | 37.0 FPS
Bolick’s offensive production has trended down over his last two games, totaling just 20 points after a hot start to the conference. Still, he remains excellent in other areas, finishing with a conference-high in rebounds today while leading all players in assists.
Jericho Xavier Cruz SMB SG 11 PTS | 9 REB | 2 STL | 30.8 FPS
For the first time this tournament, Cruz has posted double-digit points in consecutive games. He also added a conference-high in rebounds while making a strong impact on defense. He may not always deliver offensively, but he’ll continue to be a vital asset to the team with his ability to contribute in many areas.
Paul John Lee MAG SG 4 REB | 6 AST | 3 STL | 29.8 FPS
Lee didn’t have the best night offensively, but he made up for it with meaningful production across the board. He’s also added a new dimension to his game lately, averaging 6.3 assists over his last three games.
Justin Arana CON C 15 PTS | 6 REB | 5 AST | 28.7 FPS
It was Arana’s fifth double-digit scoring game of the conference and his third straight. With the import struggling to make a significant impact, the team will need him to keep producing at this level moving forward.
Rome Adler Dela Rosa MAG SF 13 PTS | 6 REB | 2 BLK | 28.2 FPS
Dela Rosa’s overall production has seen an uptick over his last four games; he averaged 10.5 points on 13-for-19 shooting from two, along with 5.5 rebounds and 2 stocks.
Juan Gerardo Gomez de Liano CON PG 22 PTS | 2 REB | 2 AST | 26.4 FPS
Since missing three games recently due to a knee problem, the rookie has struggled a bit offensively. But he finally picked it up today, shooting efficiently from all ranges to post his best scoring game of the tournament. Last conference, he made a name for himself offensively, averaging 19.0 points per game.
Andy Mark Barroca MAG PG 8 PTS | 7 AST | 1 STL | 21.9 FPS
It hasn’t been the best conference for Barroca offensively, as he has scored in double digits just once in eight games. But he has been delivering as a playmaker lately, averaging 7.6 assists in his last five games.
Michael Kurtiz Williams CON SG 3 REB | 6 AST | 2 STL | 19.6 FPS
Though he contributed in other areas, his scoring output was disappointing. The former finals MVP shot just 1-for-10 from the field and finished with five or fewer points for the fourth time in the tournament. While he has yet to get back into top form, he has still showcased his caliber in recent weeks, scoring at least 14 points in three consecutive outings.
Archie Concepcion CON SG 14 PTS | 1 REB | 1 STL | 17.2 FPS
The wing continues to be an impactful off-the-bench contributor for Converge in the tournament. He was sharp offensively today, particularly from deep, where he shot 4-for-6 en route to his fourth double-digit scoring game of the conference.
Ian Paul Sangalang MAG C 7 PTS | 6 REB | 2 AST | 16.2 FPS
Sangalang has established himself as a vital part of Magnolia in recent years. While his overall production has declined this conference, he remains a threat for these types of performances. In the Philippine Cup, he averaged 11.3 points on 51% shooting from two, along with 5.6 rebounds per game.
Christopher Ross SMB PG 2 REB | 6 AST | 1 STL | 14.4 FPS
Ross made his debut today after missing the opening weeks of the conference with an Achilles injury. While he was held scoreless on 0-for-3 shooting, he remained impactful, finishing with a team-high in assists.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Jerom Lastimosa MAG PG 10 PTS | 1 REB | 3 AST | 12.7 FPS
While Lastimosa finished with double-digit points for the third straight game, his overall impact has been underwhelming. Nevertheless, he is having a strong conference and will likely find his rhythm again soon.
