Team Falcons PH continue to set the standard in MPL Philippines Season 18. Fresh off a stellar Week 6 that saw all five members named to the Team of the Week, the S17 runners-up carried their momentum into Week 7, putting together another dominant performance to solidify their place atop the standings.
Masterclass From Hadji, Historic Performance for Team Falcons
Team Falcons opened the week against an AP.Bren squad fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, and that’s exactly what they showed in Game 1. Team Falcons dictated the early minutes, winning the teamfights, securing the majority of the objectives, and building a sizable economic lead. But AP.Bren held their ground before finding the momentum to turn the game around late. JMPinkman was a steady presence throughout, posting a flawless 2/0/10 stat line, while Jamespangks delivered when it mattered most, finishing with a game-high eight kills.
Team Falcons, however, hit back decisively in Game 2. Just four minutes in, the league leaders had immediately taken control, storming to four quick kills. They remained firmly in control over the next minutes and finished strong, wrapping up the game in just 12 minutes with a dominant 12-1 kill score. Much like in Game 2, the Falcons came out firing in Game 3, racking up six kills in the first five minutes. They never let up from there, taking full command of the fight and building a massive 10,000-gold lead through 13 minutes. By then, the Falcons’ firepower was simply overwhelming, as they cruised to the win and completed the reverse sweep.
It was a complete team effort from the Falcons, but Hadji proved to be the ultimate game-changer. Putting together a masterful performance across all three games, Hadji posted a staggering 12/1/17 KDA to claim Match MVP honors. Adding to the significance of the victory, two other Falcons reached major career milestones in the series. SuperMarco moved up to sixth on the all-time kills list, while Owgwen climbed to seventh in all-time assists, adding another chapter to their MPL PH legacies.
Team Falcons Strike Back Against Omega
Day 3 brought a high-stakes rematch for Team Falcons as they faced Omega—the only team that had beaten them so far this season. Hungry for redemption, Team Falcons dominated early, opening up a 5-1 kill lead and a 5,000-gold advantage in the first eight minutes. Past the 10-minute mark, the Falcons dealt another heavy blow, wiping out four members of the Barangay and taking full control. Omega, however, found a massive answer late. After successfully defending the second Lord siege, Omega unleashed a perfect counterattack and scored a massive four-man takedown. But just as the Barangay looked poised to turn the momentum, Kyle ended their comeback hopes, closing out Game 1 with a brilliant backdoor push.
Team Falcons were even more lethal in Game 2. Barely three minutes into the game, the Falcons had already made a statement, racking up eight kills. They maintained total control over the following minutes and steadily expanded their advantage. Omega never recovered, as Team Falcons completed their revenge with a commanding 2-0 sweep.
With this dominant showing, Team Falcons became the first team to lock in an upper-bracket playoff spot. They extended their streak to nine straight series, soared to a staggering 11-1 record, and cemented themselves as the undisputed force of MPL PH S18.
Now, Team Falcons face perhaps their biggest test yet. Waiting for them in the final week is No. 2 Team Liquid, setting the stage for another heavyweight rematch. With the Falcons looking to close the regular season on top and Team Liquid chasing revenge against the only opponent they haven’t beaten this season, this clash could be the perfect final statement before the playoffs.
