The reigning champions Oklahoma City Thunder remain undefeated in the 2026 NBA playoffs, as they once again handled their business against the eighth-seeded Phoenix Suns in a 120-107 blowout victory on Thursday.
Entering the second half, the Thunder outscored the Suns 35-20 to seize full momentum of the match, eventually sealing the victory.
Still improving his bid for back-to-back MVP Awards, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered 37 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists amid the absence of Jalen Williams to help OKC sweep the first stretch of home court advantage.
“It’s a bit unfortunate… All we can do is play next man up, I’m super confident in this team to be able to get the job done no matter who’s out there,” Gilgeous-Alexander said postgame.
Thunder Halfway Through a Sweep, But Lose Jalen Williams in Process
With the victory, the Thunder will now fly to enemy territory in Phoenix and will be oozing with momentum, as they now carry two wins in their pockets.
OKC, however, will take damage as they lost the services of All-Star Jalen Williams, who left the game in the third quarter after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Thunder will need to bank on other stretch bigs to tower the paint and perimeter, such as Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein, who combined for 28 points and 18 rebounds in the victory.
Dillon Brooks Shines Again, But Suns Return Home Winless
The Suns now find themselves in dangerous waters, as they have yet to place themselves in the win column after suffering back-to-back blowouts.
Dillon Brooks led the offense with 30 points, while Devin Booker added 22 markers. Meanwhile, Jalen Green struggled offensively, notching 21 points on an abysmal 8-for-23 shooting from the field.
The Suns will look to defend home court in Game 3 on Sunday, April 26.
