The Super Family—ONIC PH—just got a massive boost as three international players step in to reinforce the roster for MPL Philippines Season 18.
Fresh Firepower, Proven Experience
ONIC PH made the announcement on Wednesday, acquiring veteran champion Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, bringing back roamer Czedrick “Super Yoshi” Romero, and introducing rookie EXP laner Dan “Dann” Nathaniel Yambao to the MPL Philippines stage.
The two veterans return to the local league following competitive runs overseas. Pheww served as mid-laner for EVOS in Indonesia, leading them to the playoffs before falling to eventual champions Bigetron by Vitality. Now, he is set to take on a completely different role, serving as the team’s new head coach.
Super Yoshi, on the other hand, will reunite with his former squad after more than two years. His signing also marks his return to the local scene after playing for RRQ Tora in Malaysia and Cyberhero in Russia.
Dann, meanwhile, is a rising EXP laner finally making his entry into the league. His professional journey began in 2023 with OMEGA Neos in MDL Philippines, where he spent two years before moving to RRQ Kaito in late 2025. Shortly after, he was promoted to the organization’s MPL Indonesia squad for Season 17.
ONIC PH’s Championship Formula
The Super Family has long established itself as one of the league’s premier teams. Their dominance in Season 14, highlighted by a 13-1 regular-season record and a championship run, marked the beginning of a sustained stretch of success. ONIC Philippines has since remained a perennial contender, finishing inside the top four in each of the last three seasons. Now, with the upgraded lineup, they could be in line for an even bigger Season 18.
Leading the charge is star jungler King Cyric “Kingkong” Perez, unquestionably one of the most mechanically gifted players in the country. With the current meta favoring the aggressive playstyle of assassins, he should continue to excel.
Following an impressive debut in Season 17, Indonesian star Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto returns to bring his explosive gold lane prowess. Entering his second stint in the league, Savero arrives with greater experience and a strong familiarity with the scene. On the other hand, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez—one of the team’s most consistent players—will continue to anchor the lineup in the mid lane.
Crucially, ONIC PH tackled their primary weakness heading into the new season: the roamer and EXP roles. Last season, Jann “Kirk” Gutierrez and Borris “Brusko” Parro both struggled with consistency. The additions of Super Yoshi and Dann bring critical depth to those spots, giving the squad a much sturdier foundation.
The only real problem for this squad is their poise and composure, which is a common hurdle for a roster composed mostly of young players. That is where new head coach Pheww becomes invaluable. Having captained AP.Bren to two World Championships and two MPL PH titles, he brings the exact leadership, championship experience, and tactical prowess to reach the team’s full potential.
