After putting up an exclamation win against Boston last week, the Golden State Warriors are back out again to topple another contender, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
OKC Just Couldn’t Handle Steph Curry in His MVP Form
The 4-time NBA champion went for a season-high 36 points including 7 triples en route to another road win over the Thunder, 127-116.
Jonathan Kuminga was also productive off the bench after scoring 20 points on an efficient 73% shooting night. It was, however, De’Anthony Melton that caught the attention of pundits and fans. Melton capitalized on the opportunity of starting alongside Curry at the backcourt after putting up a pretty double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tried to make a late comeback, but the Warriors were already carrying the momentum from start to finish. SGA scored 24 points, but 12 of those came from the charity stripes.
But, OKC fans fear the worst for Chet Holmgren.
Holmgren’s Injury Update
Five minutes into the game, Holmgren unexpectedly went down after an awkward landing after contesting a layup by Andrew Wiggins. The 7-foot-1 big man was immediately helped off the court and was ruled out for the rest of the game. It was later reported that the 22-year-old rising star suffered a right hip injury. No updates about his possible return are shared with the public. It’s worth remembering that Holmgren suffered a terrible foot injury in a Pro-AM basketball league in 2022 that forced him to sit out his rookie year.
Splash Bros Reunion: Steph Already Prepared Ahead of Warriors-Mavericks Matchup
Golden State will return to the Bay area on Wednesday, November 13, to host the Dallas Mavericks in their first NBA Cup battle. However, it’s not the tournament GSW fans are excited about.
Curry and the hot breeze of San Francisco are prepared to see Klay Thompson’s return, but this time, the other half of the infamous Splash brothers will be in a different uniform.
