The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters delivered one of the most dominant performances in league history, dismantling the Blackwater Bossing, 151–95, on Tuesday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Behind a blistering start and relentless pace, the Elasto Painters improved to 4–0, while the Bossing slid to 1–3.

The 56-point margin not only underscored Rain or Shine’s early-season form but also set a new all-time record for the largest winning margin in PBA history.

What Happened?

Rain or Shine wasted no time asserting control, erupting for a 42–15 lead at the end of the first quarter behind a scorching opening from Andrei Caracut, who poured in 18 early points. The Elasto Painters continued to pile on in the second period, stretching the gap to 75–44 at halftime as their transition game overwhelmed Blackwater.

The second half turned into a formality. Rain or Shine never let up, consistently pushing the tempo and capitalising on defensive stops to generate easy baskets. Their lead ballooned to as much as 58 points, with even their second unit carving up the Bossing defence.

By the final buzzer, the Elasto Painters had eclipsed the 150-point mark—an emphatic statement of offensive efficiency and depth.

Who Stood Out?

Caracut led the charge with 22 points on an efficient 9-for-13 shooting, setting the tone early. Import Jaylen Johnson added 20 points despite limited minutes, highlighting the team’s depth and balance.

Rain or Shine’s bench proved just as lethal. Gian Mamuyac contributed 15 points, while rookie Andrei Caracut—alongside Adrian Nocum, Santi Santillan, and Anton Asistio—all chipped in double figures, showcasing a well-distributed scoring attack that saw 10 players score at least four points. Even rookie Deo Cuajao impressed in his debut with 15 points, while Leonard Santillan controlled the boards with 10 rebounds to go with 12 points.

For Blackwater, import Robert Upshaw III finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds but struggled to impose his will consistently. RK Ilagan added 14 points, while Sedrick Barefield chipped in 12, but the rest of the squad failed to keep pace offensively.

3 Keys to the Game

  1. Relentless transition attack. Rain or Shine fully embraced its run-and-gun identity, torching Blackwater for 38 fastbreak points. By constantly pushing the tempo, the Elasto Painters turned defence into instant offence and never allowed the Bossing to settle.
  2. Three-point barrage. The Elasto Painters knocked down 18 triples, stretching Blackwater’s defence beyond repair. Their ability to convert from deep—while doing so in rhythm—kept the scoreboard ticking at an unsustainable rate for the opposition.
  3. Bench dominance. Rain or Shine’s second unit outscored Blackwater’s bench, 82–39, turning the game into a mismatch across all rotations. Even with starters resting early, the production never dipped.
