Here are the top performers on April 7 and the stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Nikola Jokic DEN C 35 PTS | 14 REB | 13 AST | 86.3 FPS (vs. POR)
Jokic is undoubtedly one of the most versatile players that the league has seen. This performance marked his 33rd triple-double of the year and his 54th game with at least a double-double, including each of his last eight. The big man has played well throughout the season, but he has been even better lately. He is now averaging 28.0 points along with a league-best 12.9 rebounds and 10.9 assists and is clearly on his way to finishing the season with another triple-double average, joining Russell Westbrook as the only players in history to achieve the feat multiple times.
BREAKOUT:
Dennis Schroder CLE PG 22 PTS | 5 REB | 11 AST | 41.5 FPS (vs. MEM)
The veteran guard was back in the starting lineup today with several key players unavailable and took full advantage, delivering his best performance as a member of the Cavs. This was just his second time reaching the 20-point mark with the team, but it gives him 10 overall this year. While his production has been mostly subpar in recent weeks, he should continue to be a vital piece for the team in the playoffs.
SLEEPER:
Keldon Johnson SAS SF 13 PTS | 9 REB | 2 STL | 33.3 FPS (vs. PHI)
It certainly wasn’t his best game on offense, but Johnson still made a big difference, scoring in double figures for the ninth consecutive game and nearly coming away with his sixth double-double of the year. He should remain a solid contributor for the rest of the regular season.
ELITE ASSET:
Nickeil Alexander-Walker ATL SG 36 PTS | 3 AST | 1 BLK | 43.9 FPS (vs. NYK)
NAW continues to have a standout campaign in his first year with the Hawks, averaging career-best marks of 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.2 threes per game. He continued his strong play today, shooting efficiently from all ranges and recording his tenth 30-point game of the season.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Toumani Camara POR SF 30 PTS | 5 REB | 1 STL | 38.0 FPS (vs. DEN)
This was the third time that Camara has converted at least 8 threes and also his third 30-point outing this year. He continues to elevate his game on the scoring end this season, averaging a career-best 13.2 points while also ranking 14th in the league in three-pointers made. He’s been especially good over his last four games, averaging 23.3 points and 5.3 threes.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Jalen Suggs ORL PG 12 PTS | 12 AST | 3 STL | 48.2 FPS (vs. DET)
For most of the year, Suggs has been producing at an elite level, a trend he maintained through his first four games of the month. While his scoring may be down, he has compensated with strong production across the board, averaging 4.8 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 2.5 steals.
STREAMER:
Matisse Thybulle POR SG 14 PTS | 3 AST | 5 STL | 32.7 FPS (vs. DEN)
Despite missing most of the season with an injury, the veteran wing has remained a positive contributor when available. He’s also elevated his play recently, scoring in double figures in five of his last seven games while averaging 10.7 points, 2.7 threes and 3.3 steals over his last three outings.
FLOPPER:
Josh Hart NYK SG 2 PTS | 5 REB | 3 AST | 10.5 FPS (vs. ATL)
The first three games of the month have been a struggle for Hart, who is averaging just 4.7 points. He was also far less productive today in other categories and went empty on the defensive end. Fortunately, this isn’t typical of his year, and he is certainly capable of turning things around.
