NBA Daily Metrics: Thunder Drop Suns, Jalen Williams Powers Through in Game with Massive Playoff Implications

The shorthanded Oklahoma City Thunder (65-14) turned the tide with a powerful third quarter and officially eliminated the Phoenix Suns (35-44) from play-in contention in a commanding 125-112 win on April 10.

Phoenix Suns Top Performers:

Devin Booker 20 PTS | 6 REB | 14 AST | 47.2 FPS

Booker had a difficult time in offense but managed to stay relevant with his elite playmaking. He has been an exceptional fantasy asset, posting 47 or more fantasy points in four of his last five games. However, it wasn’t enough, as the Suns dropped eight straight games and were eliminated from play-in tournament contention. With the playoffs no longer a possibility, it wouldn’t be surprising if he sits out their final two games.

Collin Gillespie 17 PTS | 6 REB | 4 AST | 36.2 FPS

Gillespie continues to prove his worth, averaging solid rebounding and playmaking numbers while maintaining consistent strong steals for the PG position in his last three games.  He also finished with another strong scoring performance, his third since late March despite inconsistent minutes. With the team eliminated, expect him to hold the starting spot and should be able to maintain this level of production.

Bradley Beal 25 PTS | 4 AST | 1 STL | 33.2 FPS

Beal has finally broken out of his shooting slump, delivering his best scoring performance in nearly a month. However, it wasn’t enough to keep his team in contention for a play-in spot. It has been a disappointing season for Beal, with injuries being a constant issue and making it difficult for him to maintain a steady rhythm. That said, he may not return for the final games. But if he does play, his production should be just as impactful—if not more—given the favorable matchups ahead.

Ryan Dunn 13 PTS | 7 REB | 2 STL | 26.4 FPS

Dunn maintained his typical production while also performing much better in offense. With a larger role in the remaining games, he’s poised for 20-point scoring outings and double-double performances, making his floor around 35 fantasy points.

Tyus Jones 10 PTS | 3 REB | 2 AST | 19.6 FPS

Jones was able to stay productive despite limited minutes. But with the team already out of play-in contention, that would likely change soon. He’s unlikely to move to the starting lineup but should still see bigger minutes off the bench, making 30 fantasy points possible.

Oklahoma City Thunder Top Performers:

Jalen Williams 33 PTS | 7 REB | 3 STL | 55.9 FPS

JDub took over—dropping 30+ points for the seventh time this season and setting a new career high. This has been a true breakout year for him, as he’s posting career-best numbers in scoring, rebounds, and assists—all while maintaining his strong defensive impact. Not only did the team eliminate the Suns from Play-In contention, but they also secured the best record in the league and locked up home-court advantage throughout the Finals. With that settled, expect him to get some well-earned rest down the stretch.

Alex Caruso 19 PTS | 5 REB | 5 STL | 44.5 FPS

Caruso came up huge today with an elite two-way performance, recording his season-best in points and steals. While it remains unlikely for him to consistently reach this output in offense, he should remain an asset on defense, recording his 20th game with 3+ stocks. Should he get more minutes in their final two games, he’s a safe bet for strong value in the SG spot.

Chet Holmgren 22 PTS | 10 REB | 4 AST | 40.0 FPS

Chet didn’t shot the ball well but he kept his output strong with a near perfect 12-for-13 shooting at the line, recording his third 20-point game and second double-digit rebounding game this month. Despite that, his production has seen a noticeable decline lately, falling to 30 or fewer fantasy points in four of his last six games. With little left to play for, he’ll likely be rested for the remaining games.

Aaron Wiggins 17 PTS | 5 REB | 3 AST | 27.5 FPS

Wiggins has proven himself as a reliable scorer with the potential for big offensive outings. He’s flashed that upside multiple times this season and could do so again with an expected boost in minutes and usage as key players may rest in their remaining games. With favorable matchups against the Jazz and Pelicans, he’s well-positioned to hit the 30-fantasy-point mark in both games.

Jaylin Williams 12 PTS | 4 REB | 1 STL | 20.8 FPS

Williams made an immediate impact in his first game back after missing his last four with an ankle issue. He remained sharp on offense, going 4-for-5 from three-point range. With a bigger role in the remaining games, his floor should be a reliable 30 fantasy points.

Biggest Disappointment of the Game:

Isaiah Joe 5 PTS | 5 REB | 3 AST

Joe stepped into the starting lineup with several key players resting but he couldn’t fully take advantage, with his continuing offensive problems. He’s been struggling since his explosive 31-point performance in late March, scoring no more than 6 points in his last four games. Despite the slump, he’s expected to maintain a big role for the final two games of the season and should be able to deliver at least 25 fantasy points.
