The New York Knicks are now two games away from entering the NBA Finals, as they once again thumped the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 109-93 victory to take Game 2 on Friday.
Role player Josh Hart notched his best postseason performance, leading the Knicks with a playoff career high of 26 points, along with 4 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
“We can’t be happy with being up 2-0. This team was just down 2-0 last series, they came back. We know they’re gonna have a sense of urgency, and we can’t just match it—we gotta exceed it,” Hart said postgame.
Knicks Go on 18-0 Run to Put Cavs Away
After coming back from a 22-point deficit in the Game 1 overtime victory, the Knicks continued their trend of huge scoring runs, this time brewing up 18 straight points in the third quarter to surge to a 71-53 lead.
The victory also marks New York’s ninth straight win this postseason—the longest streak since the Boston Celtics notched 10 straight en route to their 2024 championship.
Jalen Brunson added 19 points and 14 assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Cavs Held to Another Atrocious Shooting Night
Now down two games to none for the second straight series, Cleveland faces a must-win situation in Game 3 when they return to their home floor.
The cold shooting streak continues to linger for the wine-and-gold, as they finished with an abysmal 9-for-35 clip from long range.
Donovan Mitchell paced the Cavs in the loss with 26 points, while James Harden added 18 points and 6 rebounds.
The Knicks will look to inch one step closer to a sweep, while the Cavs will try to bounce back in Game 3 on Sunday.
