Omega Esports returned to winning ways in dramatic fashion, surviving Twisted Minds 2-1 on September 11 for a winning start in Week 4 of MPL PH S18.
Omega Makes a Statement in Game 1
The Barangay definitely needed today’s win after losing two of their last three matches, and that’s exactly what they showed in Game 1. Omega came out firing early, surging to a commanding 5-0 advantage in the first five minutes. OMG further stretched that lead moments later after Raizen secured the final Turtle, followed by two more kills.
TWIS, however, found some life through BennyQT. While Raizen caught him isolated in the bottom lane, Benny managed to outplay the Omega jungler before finally shutting him down. Still, the Barangay maintained control over the next few minutes.
Past the nine-minute mark, TWIS found the perfect counterattack, catching Cull out of position. The successful pickoff gave Twisted Minds the advantage heading into the next team fight, where they also managed to eliminate Perkziva. Still, the rest of the Barangay had plenty of damage to work with, taking down three members of TWIS and turning the fight around for Omega.
The Barangay landed the finishing blow at the 13-minute mark. TWIS attempted a flank, but Louis read the play perfectly and exposed their position. Omega quickly punished the mistake, wiping out the entire squad to close out Game 1.
Just like in Game 1, Omega jumped out to a strong start in Game 2, putting early pressure on TWIS. However, the Minds found their breakthrough when Sionnn scored a crucial pickoff on Minguin. With the man advantage, TWIS turned the momentum in their favor, stealing the first Turtle and also picking up more kills.
Twisted Minds stayed on the offensive over the next minutes, maintaining control of the map and securing the major objectives. By the 12-minute mark, they were in complete control, leading 9-2 in the kill score with a 6K gold advantage.
Nothing went right for Omega from there. At the 17-minute mark, Louis attempted to catch Lansu but missed his ultimate, leaving his team exposed. TWIS instantly pounced on that blunder, resulting in four more kills for the Minds.
Shortly after, TWIS closed out the game with a crushing 21-4 kill count. Lansu earned the MVP honors with a superb 3-1-12 performance on Gatotkaca, while Kayn was the main offensive anchor on Paquito, finishing with a perfect 10-0-4 KDA.
Omega Denies the Comeback
Both teams stayed neck and neck in the early stages of Game 3. While Omega dictated the objectives, securing the first three Turtles, Twisted Minds answered back by controlling the early team fights.
The breaking point came at the 11-minute mark. TWIS struck first when Tracyyy on Badang landed a two-man Fist Crack while Kayn on Fanny provided the follow-up. However, Omega was ready for that. Minguin unleashed massive damage on Eudora while Raizen landed a perfect counterattack to take down Kayn and shut down TWIS’ plan. Minguin stayed on the attack, finding crucial kills on both BennyQT and Sionnn to secure the Lord for Omega.
Barangay then put on the finishing touches at the 13-minute mark. TWIS once again made the first move with a solid setup from Tracyyy, but Omega flipped the fight instantly, taking down Lansu. Cull also came through, catching BennyQT and clearing the path for OMG to march into their base and secure the hard-fought win.
Raizen proved to be the difference-maker for Omega, earning the Match MVP honors behind his impressive objective control throughout the series. He also spearheaded their Game 1 win with a clinical 9-1-6 KDA on Paquito before delivering another steady performance on Hirara in Game 3.
With the win, Omega Esports improved their record to 3-3, tying Aurora Gaming for the #4 spot in the standings, while Twisted Minds remained winless at 0-6.
