Here are the players who made the biggest impact on May 5 and the stats to prove it.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Bol Manute Bol TNT C 53 PTS | 13 REB | 5 BLK | 85.1 FPS
This is just one of the many standout performances Bol has produced throughout the tournament. He set a new conference high in scoring after going 23-for-35 from two-point range, all while racking up the stats on the defensive end. Still, he’s capable of doing even more damage if he can become more efficient.
Clinton Daniel Chapman MAG C 42 PTS | 14 REB | 2 BLK | 64.6 FPS
Chapman further proved his elite scoring pedigree with this performance. He was superb inside the arc, shooting 65%, and also converted efficiently from long range to finish with a new conference high.
Robert Lee Bolick NLX PG 25 PTS | 11 REB | 10 AST | 56.2 FPS
The superstar guard started the game on a quiet note, scoring only three points in the first two quarters. But he was able to find his way back in the second half, finishing with his first triple-double of the tournament.
Cady Lalanne NLX C 29 PTS | 20 REB | 2 BLK | 55.5 FPS
There’s no better way to describe Lalanne than incredible. In all but one game this conference, he has scored at least 20 points while shooting at a high clip from two. He’s just as impressive on the defensive end, averaging 14.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks, both among the top marks in the league.
Joshua Eugene Munzon TGR SF 19 PTS | 8 REB | 7 AST | 41.1 FPS
For most of the conference, Munzon has been ineffective offensively, but he’s turned it around lately, going 15-for-19 on two-pointers. Unfortunately, he struggled again today, shooting 2-for-12 from beyond the arcs. Still, he remains one of the top two-way players in the league and he should be able to deliver at a high level again next conference.
Deschon Winston NLX SG 24 PTS | 3 AST | 2 STL | 38.1 FPS
Offensively, this was another standout performance for Winston. He was effective from everywhere on the court, especially from the two-point area where he converted 7-of-10. Outside of a few games recently, the shooting guard has been one of the more impressive players in the conference and he should be able to maintain this momentum in the playoffs.
Andy Mark Barroca MAG PG 15 PTS | 4 REB | 12 AST | 36.8 FPS
Over his last seven games, the veteran guard has delivered at a high level, averaging 7.8 assists. But he elevated his game even further today, posting conference-best numbers in both scoring and playmaking.
Calvin John Oftana TNT SG 18 PTS | 9 REB | 1 STL | 33.8 FPS
Outside his three-point shooting, this was a solid performance for the star player. He made his presence felt on both sides, finishing second in the team in scoring and rebounding. Over his last four games, he’s returned to his usual level, averaging 17.0 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Roger Ray Pogoy TNT SF 3 AST | 2 STL | 2 BLK | 20.9 FPS
Offensively, Pogoy has trended in the right direction over his last two games. While that didn’t carry over today, he made up for it on defense. Still, his scoring will be more important to the team moving forward.
Louelljay Gonzales NLX PG 7 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 18.8 FPS
On the whole, this was another well-rounded showing for the rookie guard. Offensively, however, it was a disaster; he shot just 1-for-10 from the field and has been even worse from the three-point area, going 0-for-10 over his last four games. Since he’s become an important part of the team this conference, his offense will matter a lot moving ahead.
John Bryle Bahio NLEX C 8 PTS | 5 REB | 2 AST | 16.0 FPS
Overall, it was a positive outing for the young center. Though he struggled offensively, he made his presence felt on the boards, leading the team in offensive rebounds.
Kevin Kent Racal NLX SF 3 PTS | 3 REB | 2 BLK | 15.6 FPS
Throughout the conference, the veteran has served as a consistent part of the rotation. While both his minutes and production have been limited, he has still provided a positive impact. Today, however, he delivered on defense, finishing with a team-high in stocks.
Javier Joaquin Gomez de Liano MAG SG 8 PTS | 2 REB | 1 STL | 14.9 FPS
Coming off a conference-high performance against Titan, the shooting guard was unable to come close to that level today. Still, this was a positive performance after struggling in the past few weeks.
Anthony Paul Semerad NLX PF 6 PTS | 3 REB | 1 STL | 12.6 FPS
Consistency has become a major issue for Semerad this conference. While he’s had multiple strong games offensively, he’s really struggled to maintain that level. That was again evident today, as he shot just 1-for-5 from long-range and recorded his fourth subpar outing in six games.
Rome Adler Dela Rosa MAG SF 7 PTS | 2 REB | 1 AST | 10.9 FPS
Though the forward had a few off scoring games early in the conference, he’s been more effective since, averaging nearly nine points in his next six games. He also stepped up defensively during that stretch, although he wasn’t able to maintain it in recent games.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Jordan Timothy Heading TNT SG 0 PTS | 3 REB | 1 STL | 8.1 FPS
So far this conference, Heading has had more subpar performances than strong ones, which was again the case today after shooting 0-for-3. This marked the fifth time this conference that he has scored fewer than five points. In the Philippine Cup, he had just three such performances over 20 games.
