TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Jonathan Lee Williams PHX C 20 PTS | 22 REB | 8 AST | 60.4 FPS
Though Williams was ineffective from long range, he still managed to score at least 20 points in back-to-back games with solid shooting on two-pointers. He also had a much larger impact in other areas today, further proving his pedigree as an all-around contributor.
Bennie Francois Boatwright SMB C 33 PTS | 10 REB | 7 AST | 57.5 FPS
Coming off a lackluster performance against Meralco, Boatwright got his groove back, shooting well from two and going 10-for-12 at the line to lead all players in scoring. He also found his range from deep, knocking down five threes after going 5-for-26 in his first three games.
June Mar Fajardo SMB C 30 PTS | 16 REB | 4 AST | 57.2 FPS
Offensively, the nine-time MVP clearly has a way of dominating in the paint, but he took his game to another level today, shooting 14-for-18 to register his best scoring performance across the last two conferences. Over his last three games, Fajardo has been much more impressive, which is a big reason the Beermen were able to secure their spot in the playoffs.
Jenning Leung MBK SG 32 PTS | 5 AST | 2 BLK | 51.1 FPS
Though Leung has been on and off on the scoring end lately, he was able to close out the conference on a high note with today’s performance. He was effective from inside the perimeter and he also knocked down six three-pointers plus a four-pointer to lead all players in scoring.
Kenneth James Tuffin PHX SF 27 PTS | 8 REB | 2 AST | 38.6 FPS
Tuffin averaged 13 points over his last two games but he elevated his scoring output significantly today, finishing with a team and conference-high performance. Certainly, the Fuel Masters are going to be a major problem for the rest of the league, if he can deliver anything close to this level in the playoffs.
Jason Perkins PHX PF 20 PTS | 10 REB | 1 STL | 38.0 FPS
Except for a few down games earlier in the conference, Perkins has produced at a high level offensively throughout the tournament. He did so again today, by way of solid shooting from two-pointers while also posting a conference-high in rebounds.
Shaun Geoffrey Chiu TER C 12 PTS | 16 REB | 2 BLK | 36.2 FPS
The rookie big man had a breakthrough in their previous game against Macau, posting the first double-digit scoring game of his career. He carried that momentum into today’s outing, shooting 5-for-6 and scoring just as many points. On the boards, he has also made a much bigger impact lately and is now averaging close to 10 rebounds per contest.
Celedonio Trollano SMB SF 17 PTS | 6 REB | 5 AST | 32.7 FPS
Despite missing a few games recently, Trollano has continued to play brilliantly in the conference. In fact, he has scored in double figures in every game he’s played and is now averaging 14.4 points per outing which is one of the highest marks in the team.
Paolo Jose Hernandez TER SG 9 PTS | 5 REB | 8 AST | 29.0 FPS
In the early part of the conference, Hernandez was a steady offensive threat, averaging 16 points. However, he has fallen well short of that standard since. That was again the case today, as he shot just 3-for-14 from the field, though it wasn’t all negative as he posted a game and conference-high in assists.
Evan Heinrich Nelle PHX PG 9 PTS | 8 AST | 1 BLK | 26.4 FPS
This was a really solid performance for his position. He further proved his caliber as a passer, recording at least seven assists for the third time in four games while also delivering an efficient scoring performance. Nelle has become an important piece of the team this year and that should continue in the playoffs.
Jericho Xavier Cruz SMB SG 17 PTS | 3 REB | 1 STL | 25.6 FPS
This was a superb offensive performance from the former Finals MVP. He was effective at all levels, particularly from three-point range where he converted 3-of-6 attempts. With the playoffs approaching, this performance couldn’t have come at a better time.
Christian Tyler Tio PHX PG 13 PTS | 3 REB | 3 AST | 20.1 FPS
Tio has looked really good lately, averaging 13.4 points and nearly two three-pointers over his last five games. While he is still capable of more, this is already a big improvement from his inconsistent performance last conference.
John Matthew Bravo TER PF 14 PTS | 3 3PM | 3 REB | 17.6 FPS
The forward has been playing really well over his last two games, averaging 13.0 points on 11-for-17 shooting from the field. Through two conferences, Bravo has shown plenty of positives and has looked every bit like a player the team can rely on moving forward.
Moala Tautuaa SMB PF 4 PTS | 10 REB | 1 AST | 16.5 FPS
Tautuaa posted his third double-digit scoring performance last game. While he couldn’t match that level offensively today, he made up for it on the defensive end by setting a new conference high in rebounding.
Joseph Emmanuel Eriobu TER SF 8 PTS | 3 REB | 1 STL| 16.1 FPS
In the early weeks of the conference, Eriobu was a steady part of the rotation, posting several standout performances. Recently, however, his minutes have declined significantly. Still, he made a positive impact today with solid shooting from two-point range.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Jaymar Perez SMB SG 15 PTS | 3 REB | 2 AST | 18.6 FPS
This was the third game in his last four outings in which Perez had a subpar outing offensively and the second straight game in which he made minimal impact overall. Still, outside of this recent stretch, the star guard has had an excellent conference and should be able to turn things around in the coming games.
